My Priorities

I promise to enhance transparency in the city's annual budget, ensuring you understand how your tax dollars are being spent. I will share clear communications between regulators, auditors, and our city, simplifying complex financial information. Additionally, I will seek an improvement to our financial software as to provide you better access to data on the city's website, making it easier for all citizens to stay informed. Together, we will build a more informed community.

I will continue to hold city staff accountable by asking the tough questions about how your tax dollars are being spent. I will ensure that we minimize unnecessary bureaucracy and closely scrutinize the need for any new laws or regulations. I will request detailed cost/benefit analyses for all proposals, and demand transparency regarding large capital purchases and contract awards. You will be kept informed through my social media channels ensuring you are always informed about where your money is being utilized.

I want to assure you that I remain committed to advocating for a new library that meets the needs of our community. Recent repairs have confirmed that our current library is nearing the end of its useful life, with only about seven years of service remaining. It is essential that we prioritize a conceptual design and study in next year's budget to address this urgent matter. We have land available next to City Hall for a new library, and I will also explore the feasibility of utilizing Ferguson Hall in our Historic District as an alternative solution. Together, we will ensure a brighter future for our library.

I’m committed to advancing Project S.W.I.F.T., a crucial long-term solution to our city's water supply and waste water discharge challenges. The completion of this project could ensure a sustainable and reliable water system for our community. The city staff confidence in this project and has garnered the support of the Tennessee Department of Environment Conservation, allowing us to move forward with essential modeling. As your Mayor, I promise to prioritize the revision of our Spring Hill Rising 2040 Comprehensive Plan, which hasn't been updated in ten years. It is essential that this plan reflects the diverse growth of our community and the current needs of all residents. Your voices matter, and I will ensure that your feedback shapes critical areas of our city, including land use, recreational spaces, industrial diversity, and housing options. Together, we will create a plan that truly represents our vibrant community and ensures active participation from every resident.

I will urge my colleagues agree to have a long over-due assessment of City Hall operations and approve a contract for a Compliance Audit. My proposal will be to hire an external firm to carry out review of whether the city's ordinances, policies, and contract management practices are: 1) current and necessary; 2) being adhered to; 3) require updates or modifications; and 4) provide suggestions for enhancements or possible operational efficiencies to consider.
